Questions About Loan Disbursement? | 09.09.11

Posted in Financial Aid, Student Loans By Student Loan Network Staff

Here at the Student Loan Network, we get A LOT of questions about how loans get disbursed. When will I receive my funds? How long does it take? Will the school notify me? If you can think of a question about the student loan disbursement process, chances are, we’ve heard it.

The trouble with these questions is that the disbursement process is not the same everywhere. Schools implement their own procedures (based on a standard of course) and this can make answering questions difficult. Disbursement dates vary depending on the school, how terms are broken up, etc. However, in most cases, your school will disburse your loans in two installments (one per semester), each half of your total awarded amount.

If you have questions about the loan disbursement timeframe, how and when to use your funds, and even what they can be used for, you can now find the answers here.

my student loans was shown to have been paid to the school AIU on sept 6,2012,and i’ve yet to rece the excess stipend? And have been told it could take as long as oct 9,2012. Is this normal,or a result of an ineffective financial aid department?

I’m waiting for my student loans which i asked if i could have them sent to the school so it wold be easier then having it sent through mail. My apartment building sometimes do not show up as valid when trying to receive mail and it just sometimes never make it to you and i wouldn’t want the chance of my student loans being lost or sent to another address. Well i am still waiting and the loans has been sent out already since the Th of this month. So i am a bit worried and confused on when and how i am to receive my loans because i don’t think the instructor listen to me when i asked for it to sent to the campus instead of mail. What do i do or how do i find out when i will get it?

I feel that getting loans are not good and is a waste of time because it effects your future.
