Student Loan Network Programs

Student Loan Network provides access to a host of programs and resources to help student borrowers and their families find financial aid for school. Here are a few of the financial aid programs we can help educate you on.

Federal Direct Loan Program

The William D. Ford Direct Student Loans (also called Direct Loan Program) provides low-interest loans from the U.S. Department of Education to students and parents to help pay for the cost of a student's College education.

As of July 1, 2010, the Federal Direct Loan Program is the only government backed loan program in the United States. Contact your school's financial aid department or call the Direct Loan Program at 800-848-0979 for more information.

Direct Student Loans include :

Stafford Student Loans, both subsidized and unsubsidized

Parent PLUS Student Loans

Graduate PLUS Loans

Federal Perkins Loan

The Perkins Loan is a low-interest federal student loan for undergraduate and graduate students. In the case of Perkins Loans, the college acts as the lender, drawing funds from a small pool of money provided by the federal government. Perkins Loans are awarded based on exceptional financial need.

Pell Grants

Pell Grants are based entirely off of the information presented on a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid. They are meant for low-income students, and do not need to be repaid unless the student drops out of their degree program.

For the 2010-11 academic year, the maximum you can receive through a Pell Grant award is set at $5,350. The amount received by the student is primarily based on the information presented in the FAFSA, as well as the total cost of attendance reported by the school.

Alternative Student Loans

Alternative student loans can be used for any education-related expenses including tuition, books, transportation and room and board. You may apply for a loan at any time. Approval is based on your and your cosigner's credit and should be considered after all federal student loans, grants and scholarships have been exhausted.

Scholarships & Grants

Scholarships and grants are the best way to pay for school, because they are interest-free and do not need to be repaid. Visit Student Scholarship Search for more information.
